In February 1999 Ricky won a Grammy for "Best Latin Pop Performance" for "Vuelve". The award aside, Ricky stole the show at the 41st Annual GrammyAwards when he sang "The Cup Of Life". At the end of his performance the crowd was on their feet and Ricky's life would never be the same again - yet another "beginning" in his already established career. The media branded Ricky an overnight sensation and Sony Music rushed the release of his first English language album "Ricky Martin". The album went platinum almost immediately by May of 1999 "Livin' La Vida Loca" was No. 1 and to become the hit of the summer all over the world. Madonna had seen Ricky's performance at the Grammy's and a duet with Ricky was included on the english language album.
In August 1999 Ricky made another Tv commercial for Pepsi who were the major sponsors for Ricky's upcoming LLVL Tour. Directed by Wayne Isham, the commercials were made in Spanish and known as "Goza El Sabor" (Joy of Cola) for the Spanish-speaking countries and also in English known as the "Ask for More" Campaign. Prior to the start of the Tour, Ricky was the face of America and appeared on many Tv tak shows like Rosie O'Donnell, Oprah Winfrey, The Tonight show and many others. Ricky also appeared on the cover of many magazines in 1999 including Time on May 24th, Rolling Stone, interview Magazine in June, the cover of TV Guide for June 9th, the cover of People Magazine on June 28th and the cover of New York the same week.
